For jury appraisal:
The newly constructed Episcopal youth welfare office with its untreated larch and fir wood facade forms the centre point of the youth-related work in the Diocese of Mainz. Ceiling-high windows structured with vertically traversing wood lesenes articulate the natural wood facade. The qualities of the wood material are greatly accentuated within the building interior. The horizontal wall boarding of silver fir wood and the wooden ceiling rods of covered affixed stripping create a pleasant and natural interior room quality. The spatial conception reveals a futuristic architecture with a proven application of wood, whose material quality conveys a feeling of warmth and security to the user.
